It is that you now cannot get into that thing quickly, ever, so you avoid it — and the things women avoid tend to be the invoicing and the accounts, which is a genuinely expensive place to have friction.
Why the notebook survives
Because it works. That is the honest answer. It has never once failed you, and every alternative sounds like a project you would have to set up on a weekend you do not have.
Don't get it twisted, that is a completely rational trade. Nobody chooses the notebook out of ignorance. They choose it because the switching cost is real and the daily pain is small enough to keep paying.

A password manager. That is it. One evening, ninety minutes, and it holds everything from then on — on your phone, in your browser, filling things in so you stop typing them.
You do not migrate everything at once and you should not try. Install it, put in the five things you use most, and then let it collect the rest as you go. Every time you log into something over the next month, let it save that one. In six weeks it will have all of them without you ever having had a migration project.
Then the notebook holds one thing: the master password, written down, somewhere you would keep a passport. That is the whole design.
